North Shore Rail System

The North Shore Railroad Company & Affiliates operates over 255 miles of short line track across central Pennsylvania, serving more than 100 businesses in 11 counties.The network includes six railroads: the North Shore Railroad, Juniata Valley Railroad, Lycoming Valley Railroad, Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad, Shamokin Valley Railroad, and Union County Industrial Railroad. These lines primarily interchange with Norfolk Southern, transporting commodities such as chemicals, plastics, lime, and paper.

Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad

The Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad is a 73-mile short line in central Pennsylvania connecting Tyrone, Bellefonte, State College, and Lock Haven. It interchanges with Norfolk Southern at Tyrone and Lock Haven, and occasionally Norfolk Southern operates using overhead trackage rights.

Juniata Valley Railroad

The Juniata Valley Railroad operates an 18.5-mile short line in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, serving communities including Lewistown and Burnham.
