Ten Amtrak Horizon cars traveled across Norfolk Southern’s Southern Tier Line from Buffalo to Painted Post, NY, for interchange with the Bath & Hammondsport Railroad. The cars are headed to Alstom’s Kanona facility (formerly Bombardier) to be evaluated for potential return to service after an extended period in storage.
Something about the Alco engines of the Livonia Avon & Lakeville Railroad and Amtrak equipment seems to be a repeat subject. Similar to the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad moving future Acela trainsets to Olean, the sister Bath & Hammondsport Railroad employed their Alco C424 locomotives to haul Horizon cars to Alstom’s facility in Kanona, NY, for evaluation and potential refurbishment.
